Part of my current diet is eating as little processed food as possible. This made the idea of a desert, now in then, somewhat impossible. However my bride found a solution. This also gave me a good reason to practice my food photography

CushCoffee Yirgacheffe got the honors. I pulled a simple double espresso and it was good.

A good coffee from the Coffee Couple (Sumatra Mandheling) + a good grind / a little quiet time = some great espresso

Well my world has been a bit insane. It has been and is a time of change. Its sort of gotten in the way of steady coffee photography, however, I am going to end that. I need the practice. This image was taken on the weekend, it just took me some time to get to it. I have new techniques and tools at my disposal , and i will be incorporating them into the shots.

Well this is my first cold brew of the year.It was warm enough for me to want one. I am working on a special technique for brewing it using my aeropress. I have a few new techniques for ice coffee i want to try this year. All will be detailed

In My extremely busy weekend, i got to grab a moment and make myself an americano. I am still working on the art of pulling a good espresso and this was a decent one. I Added hot water to the cup, pulled the CushCoffee Harrar right over it and let it rest, creama dissipating into a galaxy of flavor.

My bride was in Jedi Chef model She ended up making this cake. I have no idea were the recipe came from or the idea.

Sometimes a coffee comes my way that makes me smile. This time it was the Waialua Estate – Select Reserve, from Kohana Coffee. It’s from the North Shore of Oahu Hawaii. It was farmed by Derek Lanter in rich volcanic soil, and warm sub-tropical climate. This coffee provided a bit of excitement for me. Kohana 100% Hawaiian Prime is one of my favorite coffees , so getting another coffee from Hawaii made me very happy.

Sunday, January 22, 2012, was the last Day of Coffee Common NYC. On that day an espresso class was held. It was early, on a cold morning and I was there (a gift from my bride). The class was well organized, with just the right amount of people. It also had different set up from the normal sessions. Breville’s new dual boiler espresso machines were setup at different stations to help everyone spread out and learn. Overall it was a great experience.

So Coffee Common came to A Startup Store in Chelsea , New York City. If you know my adoration for all things coffee, you know it drew me like a moth to a flame. For $5 I got to sip on great coffee samples and get some coffee questions answered in person.
