Some times you have to stop taking pictures, take stock and organize to move forward. I realized this when i went to go access some images in my Lightroom catalog and the files were missing. I basically got a new workstation and thought i transferred all the files over however. I over estimated how organized my PC was. Well it boils down to i have been using the same catalog for a long time. So i was not paying attention to where the raw files were going when the files were imported. For some reason, it seems, the raw folders would jump to new directories now and then.

As I am mostly done with all these images, they can be put away, into storage till I need them. All the needed ones are on smugmug account available for use and sell. Ive come up with a list of things to do to help me start to organize, here they are

To do list

Drink coffee

Retire old light room catalog
Back up all old raw files
Start new catalogs based on clients/projects/coffee

Organize public/outdoor portraits
Drinks coffee
Develop new concept of thinking when it comes to photography

Write
Update website, (I’m not happy with this theme)
Drink Coffee & Read Comics

Smegging hell its been chaotic. Ive been sorting out the business side of my photography , and then a space shuttle coming from space as well as gear reviews backing up. Most of its sorted now. Gigs of images to go through now.

While testing the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 and picking up the Lomo Lubitel 166 for review, I went on a photo walk though NYC. It was something new for me, a photo walk with a purely manual focus lens. It is a totally different style of photographic Kung Fu. It really makes you appreciate auto focus. It’s a different way of seeing, which leads to real changes in how you shoot. Testing out Nikon 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G @ FCBD 2012

It was a quiet free comic book day in NJ. (Yes, Yes I do read comic books.) The sky was a huge greyish white soft box. I decided to volunteer my services to my comic book store, the Comic Market in Bloomfield NJ. I used it as an experiment using my old, long discontinued, Nikon 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G on Sazabi (my Nikon D700) to capture the Free Comic book day event. Keeping the IS0 around 800 with the shutter speed at no slower than 1/100 I was able to get every shot I needed. I do believe I can shoot all my daytime, outdoor events with the 28-80. I still want a better lens like a 24-70 2.8

Review: Lowepro Event Messenger 150 on ThePhoblographer

It’s not very often when a product really surprises me. When it comes to my daily photography I usually carry my gear in a backpack like the Crumpler Customary Barge or a Tarmac evolution 8. Sometimes these bags get in the way as they can be somewhat bulky, especially at events. When I got my hands on the properly named Event Messenger 150, I knew my problem was solved. After using the bag for a while I’ve become really comfortable with it. (via Review: Lowepro Event Messenger 150)

I am no longer hosting my portfolio on 500px it’s now hosted through SmugMug (Try Them out) I am still doing a lot of work in the background, posting will resume when time permits, I do have a new work apearing at ThePhoblographer which will be linked to in future post.

I have moved my print section over to Smugmug. Its nothing against 500px, Smugmug is just a better fit overall. If you see an image of mine , you like, that’s not available as a print, let me know i will do my best to make it available.

Ive been working of some interesting things. Testing and working on reviews for The Phoblographer

I’ve taken my nikon 85mm 1.8d out for its shakes and I love it, what a wonderful lens .

I am finishing testing on another lens, to be sent back soon , as well as working on more reviews and content for here, stay tuned, I’ve been busy.
